Chapter 9

Briana

What’s Wrong with Me?

After Briana dropped Mercedes off at home, she went home to her new apartment. She was going to call Bryan, but she figured what for. There was no point. She knew she was stupid for back sliding with his ass.

“What the hell was I thinking?” She said out loud to herself.

She knew that she made a dumb mistake when it happened, but she got caught up in the moment. Briana wasn’t sure why she still missed him after all the stuff he’d put her through, but she did. After receiving flowers every day, she responded to a text. Then, a few texts back and forth turned into a phone call. A phone call or two lead to Briana stopping by.

Originally, her visit was just to see the girls and to pick up some of her things. Bryan must have had another plan in stored because that isn’t how it turned out.

Briana told Bryan she would stop by after work. She knew it would be risky going to his house by herself, but she knew with the girls being there more than likely Bryan would be on his best behavior.

Bryan knew she would be coming to get some things to take with her. He wasn’t sure where Briana was moving to because Briana wouldn’t tell him. To protect herself she felt that it would be better if he didn’t know. Bryan didn’t push for information. He just agreed on the date and the time for Briana to stop by.

Briana arrived that evening. She used her key to enter the house. After all it was still home to her even though she was moving out. She figured she would leave the key with him once she got all of her things.

Bryan heard the keys in the lock so he hurried to the door to open it. She walked in without saying a word to Bryan. Bryan welcomed her with a smile. Briana gave Bryan a weak smile back, but didn’t say a word.

The twins came running from the lower level. “Step mommy!” They were so excited to see Briana, they ran right up to her and hugged her. “Hey babies!” Briana hugged them back. She was just as happy to see them.

“We miss you!” Daisia said. “I miss ya’ll too! How have you two been?” Briana said smiling from ear to ear. “Good!” They said in unison. Bryan stood by the door smiling and watching them interact.

Briana didn’t know if they knew what happened, but she was sure they knew something was wrong since she hadn’t been there.

“When are you coming back?” Dalila asked.

“Girls, let me talk to Bri for a minute.” Bryan said walking towards Briana and the twins.

“Aww.” They said in unison with sad looks on their face.

“I know girls you will have some time with her in a little bit ok?” Bryan said. He wrapped his arms around both of their shoulders and directed them back to their room in the lower level of the house.
